Maker's Choice option rods

Recently the CBFRCo Marketing and Sales departments had a meeting with the Shop department after several rod orders were botched. As a team, and after consulting with the CFO and several fly fishing industry consumers, the decision was taken to make a few changes at the very core of our enterprise.

So, now clients can go over to the Store page of the website where they’ll see the most popular rods listed available as “Maker’s Choice” rods. This means that on a prepaid basis there will be a guaranteed two-month or less wait time on a rod built in what I consider my “standard” configuration; the finished rod will reflect my aesthetics and design philosophy. I am still happy to create custom rods with details or wrap colors that are significant to you, but the Maker’s Choice rods are proven and popular and reflect my vision of what each rod would be when I designed these tapers.

This does not mean I don’t want to talk build details with you. I love that part. I’m also willing to take trades and arrange payment plans. Just ask.

I am doing this in order to help me streamline production and keep track of order details better. C. Barclay Fly Rods are still built by hand, one at a time, and it got a bit frenetic this summer – mostly in a good way. Management and CBFRCo’s consultants naturally insisted the Shop Department get its act together. Maybe it was the pandemic, or cabin fever, or something else. Whatever the root cause, things are humming along now and I’m looking forward to continuing growing this terrific family of friends and clients who share my love of modern fiberglass fly rods and clean, classic design.

Of note: I have not been able to figure out how to enable international purchases via my webstore yet, but once I figure that part out folks outside of the US will be able to make these purchases. In the meantime, to order a rod from outside the U.S., please enter the pertinent details on the Contact page and I will send a Pre-Order Maker’s Choice invoice to you. And as always feel free to ask whatever questions you have.

All of us at CBFRCo remain grateful for your patronage, and your patience. Remember to “Slow Down” once in a while.

Yesterday’s brook trout on a 72.
